If a 8th or 9th grader finishes typical HS curriculum, what do TT HS's offer to these kids for 10-12th grade? Just take more AP classes (or equivalent) or does the school allow kids to take classes from nearby colleges? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Where do you get your information? Trig, pre-calculus and calculus are taught in most independent high school math programs. History and writing projects are very sophisticated (look at Fieldston's high school history offerings on their website). Some schools (Fieldston, maybe Brearley) are not offering AP courses any more because they can limit what a teacher does. [ Reply | More ]

Some do and some don't. There were some TT moms on here before who said they finished (and/or their friends) HS curriculum at 8th grade but the schools accommodated them. BTW, "typical" HS senior curriculum would include pre-calculus or AP Calculus (level A), physics, etc. [ Reply | More ]

Um, I think those posters were either kidding, exaggerating or don't really know what they're talking about. [ Reply | More ]

You don't know what they're talking about. Obviously, they're not talking about exhausting all available courses offered by TT HS. But they do let you skip grades by subject (math, reading, science..). [ Reply | More ]

That's different from finishing a HS curriculum by 8th or 9th grade. Totally different. In that case, many public HS also have kids who do that. [ Reply | More ]

it varies. dd's school has an arrangement with local universities and kids can take courses at the universities and get college credit. the best part is, it's free! [ Reply | More ]
