have been doing cio for weeks, 7mo dd still crying. started to read dr sears' baby book, which is so completely the opposite advice. yet i see both sides. and i'm feeling guilty now that i've been letting dd cry alone for so long--she does seem "scared" of going to sleep now, "insecure" when it comes to naps & bedtime. but it also seems maybe too late to try the sears way. also--she is not a mellow baby to begin with. any thoughts appreciated. Are you being consistent with it? Nighttime or naps? Cioing isn't supposed to last for weeks. Also, she may still be a bit young. [ Reply | More ]

I honestly think that CIO doesn't work for every child. Regroup and try something new. [ Reply | More ]

ITA (CIO worked for my DS but not my DD). How long is long? Any possibility she's teething? [ Reply | More ]

most important thing is consistency and love. I also switched recently though from one method to another and I am getting great sleeping results now. could be age. we switched around 7 months to no CIO and I just held her and soothed her until she was ALMOST asleep in a rocking chair then put her down and left the room in 2 seconds and she falls right to sleep.
