Mom of toddler (already in great private preschool only in our neighborhood) and infant here just thinking of starting to educate myself on the whole nyc school thing, both public and private on-goings. Where should I start? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Start talking to other parents about the public schools in your area. Join parents' league. Talk to other parents at your preschool about where they think they might apply [ Reply | More

For public, spend some time going through www.insideschools.org. For private, you can try joining the Parents League, but if you hang out on UB schools for a while, you'll get the whole TT (= "top tier") and all the scuttlebutt, FWIW. [ Reply | More
