My weekend is off to a horrible start. Yesterday my car got in accident. I say my car because luckily DD and I were inside my house at the time. Some Grandma was parking in my development and "accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake" and demolished the car next to me, which hit into my car. So annoying. At least no one was hurt - there were children playing outside and if she had been in reverse it could have been tragic. I really believe that repeated road tests and doctors note should be required. OP: I agree. My DH was pissed that the police officer did not give her a ticket for reckless endangerment or something. He left it to her daughter and SIL to talk to her about it. [ Reply | More ]

np: this is a big problem. Cops look the other way when the elderly get into trouble on the road, and doctors keep passing them on vision tests/etc., when they shouldn't. They think they're being kind. My 90+ yo aunt had a doctor who kept letting her drive even though she had no business on the road-- it was dangerous and horrifying, and there was no stopping her.
