Just like with B-School and High School rankings, it's all about improvement in scores, etc and that's not the best criterion to measure success and quality. for example, kids in Stuy and Bronx High School of Science are super smart & high percentage get top quintile SATs and get into Ivy League schools, yet those schools did not make Newsweek's top 100 list! I just took a look at your Excel file. Nicely done but totally worthless. Do you really think that Manhattan Bridges HS, Bedford Academy, Marble Hill HS of Intl Studies, HS of Contemporary Arts and 22 other high schools are better than Stuyvesant in any way? [ Reply | More

DOE letter grades are worthless - based on "progress" from one year to the next and not on whether the school is in fact any good or not. I pity the people who will actually make decisions based on DOE grades. [ Reply | More
