how much $$$ would be enough for you to go back to work and place your children in daycare? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

between dh and I, we make around 100/year, and it is very tight for us. and we have low rent and an extremely reasonable daycare. [ Reply | More ]

we're in Washington Heights and do home daycare, which runs around 150-200/week. You can expect one caregiver and up to five kids. [ Reply | More ]

Wow! Seems so low ($150-200) I was thinking of offering $400... at least, that's what I hear the going rate is for home daycare in Northern NJ [ Reply | More ]

150-200 per kid. So, if you imagine they have five kids, they can make 750-1k tax free per week. [ Reply | More ]

I just quit my job and have started doing consulting so I could work part time from home and eliminate the commute. I am making the same amount - if not more and have so much more time with my family. I am in HEAVEN! [ Reply | More ]

I will go back for free...I love my kids, but i believe that a woman should work out of the home if she simply wants too [ Reply | More ]

LOL! hardly. We are making sacrifices for me to SAH and have accrued a little CC debt. It's our choice. This is what we feel is best for us. I am not pampered in the least [ Reply | More ]

My son is 2 1/2 and I have a great opportunity to make a 'little' extra w/ lots of perks, so this is why I'm considering. Never in a million yrs did I think I'd be at this crossroad! [ Reply | More ]

Go for it! if it's so bad, you can stop. One thing to consider is that 2 is the age when you want to start having them interact with other children, preschool starts at 3, so it's not like you're going back at with a newborn. [ Reply | More ]

This is exactly how I feel. The only thing that's killing me is having them in daycare from 8:30-5:30... that's a LONG day... [ Reply | More ]

well think about it. I had an opportunity last summer when DD was 2. It would have been great this year but I wasn;t ready so I turned it down. Everyone is dif and I really had to think hard about it, but it just didn't feel right at that time [ Reply | More ]

I am glad I did. I don't think I'd be a very good SAHM. Never really figured out my net takehome after childcare, but our daycare runs about $8K/year. [ Reply | More ]

My daycare costs are about 1500/mo for 3 kids for part time 3 days per week (2 school age, 1 baby) and I make 120K. Thats well above the line where I would consider not working. [ Reply | More ]
