Clueless mom here: live in D3. I understand that to get into a school for K other than your zoned school, you had to apply to the lottery by a date in April, which I missed. Is there a similar lottery for 1sr grade? Any idea for recourse for this year (are lottery results out yet)? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Did you apply for G&T? What school are you zoned for? Are you really just figuring this out now and your kid starts school in September? [ Reply | More ]

Did not apply for G&T. New to NYC and just figuring this out. DC would need to start K in September. Looks like private will be very difficult to transfer into so looking into public. Learned that we are zoned for 9 but would rather go to some other schools on the upper west side that have a dual language program. I understand that PS87 will be too hard to get into but I have also heard about PS 84 and PS 75. [ Reply | More ]

is the regular program at 9 better than the dual language programs at the other 2 schools? DC speaks Spanish fluently. What if we want the dual language programs? is there a way to get into the lottery at this point for K or next year for 1st grade? [ Reply | More ]

There is no 1st grade lottery. If the school has seats, they may give them to you. 9 is better in every way. I would never pull my dc out of 9 for 84 or 75. You will regret that decision when your child is ready to apply for MS. [ Reply | More ]

many years ps 87 is looking to balance the dual language with more spanish speakers. I would call parent coordinator and ask. [ Reply | More ]
