^^ since wed morning, my left, lower arm feels numb, but not the whole arm, just the top part (hard to explain) as if I had had anesthesia and it's wearing off... and it has not changed since then! I get a numbish left arm pretty often. My doctor is not at all concerned about it. I doubt what you have is anything bad, but it couldn't hurt to mention it to your interist. Could be a pinched nerve, or maybe you are just sleeping funny on it. [ Reply | More

well, it could hurt for years, or forever, or it could get better. If there's impingement on the nerves from a disc out of place then p/t sometimes helps realign things and releases the impingement. Or could be inflammation and the swelling is causing the nerve to be pinched. Try an anti-inflammatory (Advil). See a neuro, may send you for an MRI of your neck. Yes, it could cause chest pain as well. But it depends on the kind of chest pain - dh just had this as well, was having trouble breathing b/c it hurt his chest. wow, this is so interesting! the pain in my chest often seems to travel to my upper back and shoulder too. This could be the cause of all my chronic pains (at least it is worth looking into!) I've had chest xrays, EKGs, bloodwork, an echocardiagram, a mammogram... this actually makes sense. Thanks [ Reply | More

neuro mom: can't give you a diagnosis over UB obviously, but is mostly likely due to a disc in your neck. Call your MD, but if you get sudden severe pain in neck, or other weakness/numbness, trouble controlling urine or stool, go to the ED. [ Reply | More

NOT suggesting she's having a stroke. Those are all symptoms of a herniated disc which is getting worse. Her kinds of symptoms are usually just treated with physical therapy. She wanted an answer from an MD. [ Reply | More

op- neuro mom, if the symptoms have been the same since Wed am (basically just numbness in arm) do you think it can be safe to say it will not get worse... probably won't get worse, but I'd avoid any heavy exercise, and resist the temptation to have a chiropracter manipulate your neck without having an MRI first to see what the problem is. [ Reply | More
