have a 5mo db that is several times a night. Have a dh who travels 3-4 nights a week. Also have a toddler. I feel like I'm fine during the day - can handle the kids, have a good social network, etc. When the sun starts to set, and I anticipate the night, or when I'm up at night I turn into an evil person. Cuss at my husband, cry, hate my life, etc. Am I depressed or just sleep deprived? Should I talk to my doc about it? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

was your db still eating at night? Mine is, she gobbles it down. I don't want her to be hungry at night. :( I'm ok with training her to put herself back to sleep, but I'm afraid of making her cry cause she's hungry. [ Reply | More ]

db weighs 14 lbs. She eats about 5 oz every three hours (total of 5 bottles) during the day and one to two 4 oz bottles at night. I have tried and tried to get her to drink more than 5 oz during the day, but she won't. [ Reply | More ]

OK so start slowly...decide which bottle you think she would least likely to be hungry for at night and let her CIO for that particular bottle and work from there... [ Reply | More ]

how many times p/night is she up? I used to wake to feed #1 at around 10:30-11 pm before I went to bed so I could get a few hours in after that. My #2 was still getting up 2x's p/nt to eat also at that age. Do you ff or bf? Honestly, try formula at night, it may hold her longer. [ Reply | More ]

I ff now. Do you think starting solids would help? We are waiting until 6 mos, but could probably be persuaded to start sooner. [ Reply | More ]

I used to find the evenings very difficult also - also feared night time when db #2 was up often - I could never bring myself to CIO. Finally at 10 mos when I was at my wits end I bought Ferber and before I even had a chance to read it #2 started sleeping through the night. Not that this helps you right now...but the end is in sight. I think there's something about being alone at night that just makes the crying and the stress of 2 kids harder than it is when the sun it out. [ Reply | More ]

thanks. Each night I think "I'm calling my doc tomorrow to get on meds" and then the day comes, I have my coffee, and everything is fine. Does make me wonder if I'm crazy or not. [ Reply | More ]

you need to make a rule to 2yo and dont go to her till 6am the earliest NO MATTER WHAT>..you need to get your night sleep back....start slow tih 5mo if that makes you feel better..only get up1x and feed her the rest of the time she gets up try to let her CIO...it will be hard the first 2 nights but i PROMISE You that you will feel like a different person after a week... well is 2yo stil in crib..if so then you just DO NOT go to her untill 6am...she may fall back to sleep or learn to entertain herself...this advice comes from a sleep therapist i contacted when i was dealing with early wakeups too...after a few mornings of crying/fussing my db learned to fall back to sleep and now wakes up 630-7 [ Reply | More ]

He's in a big bed. He get's up, and knocks on his door until I open it. If I ignore him he cries and knocks harder. [ Reply | More ]

if you're BF, try pumping milk in the morning and giving it DB at night. morning milk is supposed to have more fat and will keep them sated longer. my sis did this [ Reply | More ]

If you're evil then I'm the devil himself. I feel/do the same things you do and I only have 1 db and DH is home every night. You're just in an extreme situation, with lots of stress and unfortunately don't have the means to get support. Other than cio I'm sorry I don't have any advice but hopefully you'll feel better knowing you're not the only one who feels like this. [ Reply | More ]
