i kind of want to try it again, but then i start to get nervous just thinking about it, we are talking 50hrs of labor i was in for the 1st, not kidding. i just hate all the pain killers after the c section, i needed them but they made me very sick [ Reply | More ]

VBAC mom from below and I needed plenty of pain meds after my vaginal birth and ended up with tons of stitches and a broken tailbone. Recovery is much easier after a scheduled c because you did not labor. [ Reply | More ]

op: broken tailbone? holy crap i had no idea that could happen! i labored for 30 hours natural labor with my first, then 20hrs with meds then csection finally. i think the idea of a broken tailbone makes me like the c section. [ Reply | More ]

It was really bad. I broke it pushing. Hurt for nearly a year but the first 2 months were a nightmare. I used to nurse walking around because sitting hurt so much. [ Reply | More ]

op: oh my god, i'm just dying thinking about that pain, i just don't think my body can get a db out, i pushed for ever and was in labor for days and days (broken water for days too! my midwife was a nut), and he never ever even budged [ Reply | More ]

NP: I had two vaginal births, needed a couple of stitches, but barely needed tylenol afterwards. Minor discomfort. Don't scare her needlessly. [ Reply | More ]

I am giving her the worst case scenario. I scheduled c-section is not a bad recovery and less likely to have unexpected things happen. As someone who had a tough labor with a scary emergency c she should realize that it might not go perfectly even on the second try. [ Reply | More ]

that is amazing, i hear that and i want to try, i mean i tried so so hard the first time, i had the birth ball, the classes, the mindfullness meditation, the exercises, my hubby, the tub, the midwife, the glass of wine, the natural labor, and it just went on for days and days of severe contractions two minutes apart...it just never progressed, it was unreal [ Reply | More ]

Much more controllable with a scheduled c-section. I vbaced after a really bad emergency c and went into it knowing that it could happen like that all over again. [ Reply | More ]

It was great. Healthy baby and no trauma but much harder recovery actually and my c-section recovery was no walk in the park. [ Reply | More ]

You'd have to have a very agreeable OB. Many prefer C-sect to cover their own ass. They like to keep their liability to a minimum. [ Reply | More ]

Wain, Beyers and Friedman. They are out of Mt. Sinai. Friedman delivered db via vbac. They were all great. Very supportive of the vbac and great about giving me balanced information pro and con. [ Reply | More ]

op: what do you feel like after scheduled c??? im realizing i felt so horrible after my emergency c because i had be laboring for days and days, but now i'm think that just have it scheduled and going and getting it done will not be as exhausting and body-traumatizing [ Reply | More ]

I hated my C/S recovery, and by other standards, it wasn't even that bad. I didn't have any infections or complications or anything. But my scar keloided and was insanely sensitive for about 1 year, and still is depending on the weather. C-sections carry many more risks - I say pick another provider (midwife or OB) who is very supportive of natural birth, and try again. [ Reply | More ]

i had a scheduled c section for my 2nd. much easier. I was out of the hospital after 2 days-couldn't wait to get home. my milk came in while I was in hospital, which didn't happen with my first. my ob was amenable to a vbac, but I didn't want to try it then have the c again since my recovery from my first was tough. I didn't want to have that recovery and have to care for 2 kids. everyone is different. so find what works for you-don't feel pressured any way, but know that the 2nd isn't normally so bad. normal to be nervous too and have trouble deciding. I had a c-section and a vbac and the vbac was a vast improvement on the surgery in multiple ways physical and emotional. I felt like a different person afterward--human, and healthy, even radiant. After the surgery I felt like SHIT. I am so glad I had a vbac and would never hesitate to recommend that anyone make the effort. [ Reply | More ]

Totally agree! I vbaced with my 2nd son and it was amazing. I felt healthy and energetic after childbirth--euphoric. After my c-section, I felt exhausted and like a true post-surgery patient, which I was! Definitely try! [ Reply | More ]
