3 1/2 hr car trip tomorrow. Do you or DH sit in back with 9mo DB while other drives or both adults in front? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

DH drives and I sit in back w/ 2 DC (4 yo and 11 mo). If they both fall asleep or 4 yo is occupied watching DVD, then I'll move up front. [ Reply | More ]

Sitting in the back with your children. I would rather talk to my husband in the front, honestly. They're only an arm's reach away, no? [ Reply | More ]

Oh wait, you mean only on long car trips, right? Never mind! I was reading this as an "all the time" thing. Sorry for hating. :-) [ Reply | More ]

or: it's just easier to deal with them when I'm in the back. I can comfort the baby if he cries or if he needs a bottle. My 4 yo sometimes gets carsick and I've been able to get a bucket in front of her in time. It's a little less comfortable, but easier. [ Reply | More ]

op: this is my thinking with my 9mo. I can give him a bottle or food if he gets hungry on the road. But I also realize if we lived in the 'burbs and drove more I'd probably have had him by himself in the back many times by now [ Reply | More ]

Until what age? I feel bad leaving db in the back, facing backwards, by himself. [ Reply | More ]

Never! I had a neighbor who was still sitting in back with her child when they were 18 months old. [ Reply | More ]

I sit in back (don't drive). 6mo would never fall asleep on her own in the car and eats every 2hrs so I also need to be there to feed her. And need to be there just to occupy her, as city baby she isn't used to the whole sitting strapped in a seat for several hours thing she'd go nuts if we left her alone. [ Reply | More ]
