I saw post the other day about Dalton WL. They over accept kids, expecting 5-7 kids to leave and W/L doesn't usually move. Is this same for most of the private? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

all schools overaccept expecting a certain percentage to decline. what happened this year with dalton is that more kids than expected accepted the offer so the k class is larger than expected. therefore, if someone drops out it is unlikely to go to the wl because they already have more than expected coming in sept. I think I may have been one of the posters who mentioned this. When I heard this, I assumed that they had about +7 based on slightly misjudging how many people would accept their offer. Personally, I would not be surprised if at least 1 or 2 parents who were accepted to Dalton (with or without FA) withdrew if they got their G&T first or second choice. [ Reply | More
