Of course there is a chance. DOE said they pull kids from each %. It may go down to 94-95%. I know 116 G&T has only one class but there are big possibilities. [ Reply | More ]

What? What do you mean they pull kids from each %? [ Reply | More ]

Huh? Chill out? I asked a legit question. DOE has always maintained they would go down the % randomly - place all the 99s, 98, 97 etc - not pick a few from each %. I was asking if that had changed. [ Reply | More ]

If it only has 1 class, then it's pretty unlikely that 95% would get a seat. I am assuming it's one of the more popular G&T programs in its district? [ Reply | More ]

doe has said the opposite -- that they start from highest ranking and fulfill based on each kid's choices [ Reply | More ]

I would love this to happen because it would be the fairest way to assign seats. Unfortunately, this is not how the DOE explained it will assign the seats. They will go by percentiles and the higher the percentile the better your chance to get your first choice. [ Reply | More ]

No, that's not true at all. They are doing a lottery within each percentile, but they will go through all the 99s, then the 98s, then the 97s, etc., until they run out of spots. They are NOT randomly selecting from each percentile BEFORE the highest percentile's dcs have been placed. A 95 will get a spot at 116 when hell freezes over. [ Reply | More ]

We just have to wait for the notifications to be sure about this. I bet we will be surprised about some of the outcomes. [ Reply | More ]

No we don't. Marty Barr said they would go by score. The only issue is whether there will be a lottery within EACH percentage, not whether they will throw all the names in a hat and draw (which is simply ridiculous--ain't gonna happen). [ Reply | More ]

isn't 116 as a whole a good school? [ Reply | More ]

if you are not zoned for it you won't have a chance to get in [ Reply | More ]

I see what you tried to say above. Yes, the G&T is unzoned. And 116 as a whole is a good school. What has this with to do with OP's question, though? [ Reply | More ]
