any MDs on or anyone who cares to weight in? DC is almost 7 yo. Has had diarrhea/vomiting on and off now for two months straight. Not a lot but for example he has vomited 4 times (about once every 8-10 days or so). I keep thinking he is just unlucky and has gotten 4 stomach bugs in the past 2 months but I'm beginning to worry something else is going on. This last time, my other 2 kids are/were recently vomiting too (in the past week)....so it could be a bug...but it's just so weird [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I don't know but between my 2 dcs, they've had a total of 3 throwing up illnesses and 2 diarrhea illnesses (and in one case, the diarrhea lasted for weeks). I've been told it's just a nasty bug that's going around. [ Reply | More ]

Probably stomach bugs. Soem kids and household are more susceptible. [ Reply | More ]

^^My sister has this in her household. I think you can potentially decrease infection with some super-watchful hygiene....always, always wash hands as soon as you come in the house and always always before meals (and teach ds to do this at school). Make sure all food is washed and/or cooked well done. Make sure the refrigerator is set very cold. Bathrooms should be squeaky clean and wash all linens in hot water. Spray Lysol after any diarhea or vomiting. This may sound paranoid, but with 3 kids in the house, it may help prevent stomach bugs. [ Reply | More ]

ITA. We completely decreased stomach bugs and their transmission by rigorously washing hands and using Purell afterwards. We had two stomach bugs last year, and no one else got it. Any contact with any fluid or touching the sick person, and it was Purell city. [ Reply | More ]

look at your sources of food. many times mild food poisoning is mistaken for flu. some estimates are food pois. is actually more common. People don't realize it. Think about it, are there any places where you are getting take out food for dinner? I also have had more probs when I order pre-prepared meals from certain "fresh" food delivery places (don't want to name names). Probably the food you are preparing at home from scratch is fine. Look upon all pre-prepared food with suspicion, esp if your family has been getting sick so often. [ Reply | More ]
