My Dad is 60 and had to go back for a 2nd colonoscopy 6 months after the 1st because he had so many polyps. This test showed too many again. Anyone know what can cause this? I want to try to look up some info so he can have some questions for his doc, but don't know where to begin my research. TIA [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Could be that the first colonoscopy just didn't catch the tiny ones.... My dh had a colonoscopy and they did find cancer. He is also prone to polyps, but after several colonoscopies, he is now relatively clear - - a few each time, but nothing to worry about. If they catch them early, it is not a big deal. My guess? People who suppress emotion/worry/anger store it somewhere - - and sometimes, people express it via polyps. (not any type of medical answer, just a feeling I have) [ Reply | More ]

Thank you - this would be my dad, too. No cancer yet - glad to hear your DH is doing well. That must have been scary. GL [ Reply | More ]

Don't worry.. while the frequent colonoscopies may be a p.i.t.a., as long as they are catching the polyps, he will be fine. It is only when they don't get colonoscopies and the polyps continue to grow that they turn malignant. Polyps are always benign to start. [ Reply | More ]
