By the way, nannies do not love your children. They may be "loving," but it's condescending and arrogant to believe they "love" your children. It's a job. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

She is not "preferential". It was just an instant attachment w/ the baby whereas it took her a while to get to know older dcs. If she pretended to love them immediately I'd find that very suspicious. [ Reply | More

many long term nannies do love the kids. i grew up with a nanny and she was a mean old bitch, but my father mentions his own nanny often and he genuinely loved her and she loved him. it depends on the situation. [ Reply | More

I did not expect my former nanny of 3 years, who was well compensated and well treated (6 wks paid vacation, sick time, tons of flexibility to deal with her kid's issues), who walked on us after racking up $2,000 personal cellphone calls (she knew what her minute budget was and knew how to check remaining time) is basically stalking my child with new caregiver by showing up at his preschool because "she loves and misses him" and refuses to arrange anything directly with me. When phone bill came in I told her not to worry, we'd spread it out over a period so it would be as painless as possible. People are strange. [ Reply | More
