Have serious issue with work-was told by my new regional mgr to "get my priorities in order" because she is concerned with me being able to meet my goals for the year because I have an 8 month old. Came back from maternity leave in Dec, and work in a commission based job. Have not fallen behind, in fact, am exactly on point to meet goals for the year, and work from home one or two days a week; by that, I am actually working from home, have a babysitter who comes in and watches dd for 6 hours on days I am home. I want to go to HR but she is a spiteful person and has been known to do malicious things to get back at people. Real peach, huh? She could directly affect my husbands work- he contract works for my company as well, and she could cut him off. WWYD? Sorry for the length. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Did you ask her why she thinks you will not be able to meet your goals when you are exactly on target? [ Reply | More ]

op- she has had "issues in the past with women who return to the field after having a baby." She has two kids, btw, under 10. [ Reply | More ]

I did, and said if she feels there is something I should be doing differently, I would appreciate her advice, she told me to be more dedicated and flexible with my work schedule. I have a set schedule that I go by because I have different clients who expect me to be there a certain day each week, so if someone wants to have me in on a already promised day, I cannot accomodate all of the time. None that she can pinpoint, but she feels that I should be more "aware" that sometimes the job needs to come first. [ Reply | More ]

I spoke to my direct mgr, who told me to yes her to death, and keep doing what I have been doing, dont worry, but it rattled me. I feel like she is watching me, and of course, for the first time in over a year, I am having abad month this month. [ Reply | More ]

I would find a new job, asap. Fact is, there are managers like this out there-- often they are women-- and once they get these thoughts in their heads, you're screwed. You know that your first priority will always be your family, but that even so, you're doing a completely professional job and do not deserve extra scrutiny. But that doesn't matter b/c she's got a bee in her bonnet. I'd quit ASAP. [ Reply | More ]
