How old were your kids when you sent them to preschool if at all? Was it worth it? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

2.8 yo. Yes, worth it. Ds was/is being cared for by a nanny who takes good care of him but isn't exactly intellectually stimulating. I liked that he had good interaction/stimulation for at least a few hours a day. And my ds really like being part of a group. [ Reply | More ]

preschool is licensed as such and has a curiculum. that said, dd goes to a pre-k that has an after-school program. Half of the kids leave after pre-k, half stay until 6. [ Reply | More ]

oh yeah, they would make money on anytning. these classes are offered where you separate gradually from you dc instead of just dropping them off at ps one day... [ Reply | More ]

in NYC, most preschools have a slow separation period. My friend's dd's preschool in Texas was cold turkey (drop of kid and leave). [ Reply | More ]

Somehow a gigantic lie has been perpetrated on the parents of the city, and that lie is: It matters where your child goes to preschool. Almost nothing could be further from the truth. Any expert on early childhood development—a description which would not apply to a teacher or director of any preschool, because it would tremendously overqualify her for the job—will tell you that as long as a preschool is safe, its employees caring and its facility well-stocked, it’s a perfectly fine place to send a three-year-old a few mornings a week. The competition among parents to get toddlers into one of the “best” preschools is much ado about nothing, serving only the preschools, and some consultants and journalists. [ Reply | More ]

I don't think parents care about how good one preschool is vs another. It's all about connections. Parents want a connected PSD who will be able to assist them with exmissions. [ Reply | More ]

2.5 Full day. Preschool type learning in morning. Nap in afternoon & playtime. Yes. totally worth it. My kid loved it. Move socializing, more structure, didn't get sick after first months. [ Reply | More ]
