My 13 mo old son eats bread (bagels, waffles, pancakes) and chips...lots of cut up fruit. However, he spits out all protein including cheese, eggs, turkey, nuggets, etc...should i be worried there is some sort of sensory issue going on or is he just being too picky? He still eats stage 3 meat and veggie combo jars with pieces in it. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Picky toddler. Keep offering and cross your fingers. Will he eat cheese melted on a bagel or english muffin or slice of toast? [ Reply | More ]

Give him the jars until he accepts protein more readily. My ds (20mos) won't eat a vegetable unless it's pureed and in a jar. [ Reply | More ]

he's been pretty picky but he loves fruit, french toast, hot dogs, and cheese cut up from string cheese sticks (the only cheese he'll eat) [ Reply | More ]

Sounds normal. You could make pancakes with cottage cheese (there are some recipes online). [ Reply | More ]

Could be texture (those require more chewing) but I wouldn't worry about it as any kind of sensory problem. My ds didn't like protein at that age either. He's still not a huge meat eater. You could try bits of lunch meat, egg salad or tofu cubes. I always recommend the Kashi Mighty Bites cereal b/c it has a fair amount of protein in it and it basically tastes like honey-nut cheerios (but less sweet). [ Reply | More ]

or: you're welcome. Just chop the egg whites really tiny. You can also do tuna salad (or salmon salad). My ds wouldn't eat fruit for the first 2 years of his life - only veggies, carbs and some proteins. Now, he won't go near a veggie but loves fruit. Their tastes change. Just keep offering [ Reply | More ]

I remember that being a tough time for my ds too. I threw out so many food items after he'd reject them. I finally resigned myself to letting him eat what he wanted and just keep trying and trying and now he has his little strange routine of food that is almost balanced. GL :) [ Reply | More ]

why - if my kid doesn't like meat she doesn't have to eat it. She gets protein. I grew up and didnt eat cheese and rarely meat. Not a big deal - really - americans eat too much protein [ Reply | More ]
