Moved to a new town last year and became friendly with this woman - for the 1st few months we made lots of plans etc but for the last few months she has been blowing me off - cancelling plans. I think her other friends think I am not"cool" enough for them - I don't want to deal with this High School BS - she is haveing a party in a few weeks - I originally said yes but now I am thinking of cancelling - I really feel it is healthier for me not to get caught up in this type of pettiness - should I cancel and our ds are friends - how do I handle that? Maybe you did too much too soon. Go to the party, but don't "hang" on the host. Meet other people and have a good time. [ Reply | More ]

you are getting caught up if you cancel. she invited you, you said yes, so you go. maybe afterwards you don't keep pursuing as much and let her make the next move. sometimes friendships have an ebb and flow also. you might just be super self conscious. i'm sure you have other issues of not feeling cool enough and are projecting on this situation. if it is true, than it will surface and she won't initiate getting together with you anymore. then you can move on and find better friends.
