Would you be offended if your children were not invited to a baby shower? People keep asking if they can bring their kids to my shower. I am not the host, but they feel the need to ask me, for whatever reason. I am telling them to ask about it when they rsvp to the host. But I have told the host I don't want kids there, it's going to get too crazy, and then there will be at least 10 kids at a 50 person shower. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

It's a fine rule. They just wont come if it's a problem. I wanted kids at mine, but I totally get why you dont. [ Reply | More ]

IMO it's inappropriate to have children to a baby shower. It's an adult event and no one feels like having the kids running around to look after. [ Reply | More ]

Why don't people understand, your kids are not welcome everywhere. there is such a thing as an adult-only event. [ Reply | More ]

I don't a baby shower qualifies as adult-only. It's celebrating birth of a child! [ Reply | More ]

I would not be offended at all. I think it is very rude to ask if they can come. Infants are one thing but toddlers and up would be a nightmare. [ Reply | More ]

Fine if you don't want children around. But IMO it's selfish. [ Reply | More ]

np-ridiculous. It isn't selfish. It's VERY unusual to have kids running around at a baby shower. The focus is on the mom-to-be, not other people's urchins. [ Reply | More ]

I am so sick of people assuming their children should be not only be welcomed at every event but should have food geared toward them, entertainment available, etc. DH and I went to a restaurant a few weeks ago at 9pm and there was a couple with a preschooler and toddler, bitching that their wasn't a kids' menu. Were they actually bitching about it, or just asking if there was one? Btw, 9pm is waaay to late for a preschooler and a toddler to be having dinner, don't you think? [ Reply | More ]

Absolutely too late, and annoying as hell to me who had paid for a sitter to go have an adult meal at an adult hour. And yes, they were complaining. It was an expensive restaurant with food that wouldn't necessarily appeal to all children. [ Reply | More ]
