At a playgroup today and little boy scratched my son's face. The other boy's mom was not there and I'm a bit upset about it. What should I say or do? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

If the mom wasn't there, I think you have to let it go, maybe bring it up next time if he is aggressive again. I'm not sure what you would achieve by calling the other mom to say "Timmy scratched jasper!" she'll apologize, but there's nothing she can do now that the moment has passed. [ Reply | More ]

NP: see below - the kid who scratched has special needs. The OP needs to get a grip, IMO [ Reply | More ]

I agree that kids shouldn't be doing this but it happens...hitting, biting, scratching. just can't think of any options for you. turn the tables. btw, my ds is always the one getting pushed, etc. [ Reply | More ]

I don't get why people are horrified by these typical things happening with little kids. Her child is fine - why make a huge issue over it? [ Reply | More ]

This is a delayed child who doesn't really speak and takes out his frustration. I don't really like that he's taking it out on my child. [ Reply | More ]

well then be understanding that the kid has issues, and if you feel he will be a threat to your ds the next time, just hover and be close to stop any potential altercation. [ Reply | More ]

If this is the case you really need to be a bit more tolerant. Imagine the shoe on the other foot. All kids have incidents like this. Imagine what this kid and his/her family is going through. [ Reply | More ]

I can imagine bc I too have a delayed child thank you very much. I think my frustration is that the mom herself doesn't get more intervention for her child and then she leaves him for others to watch. [ Reply | More ]

I have an austisitc child. Maybe talk to her about what you have done for your child and how it has helped. I don't think you can tell her what to do, but if you talk about your child's issues you may pique her interest or encourage her to ask the question she really wants to ask.+ [ Reply | More ]

she still has to protect her kid. I agree with above that she needs to hover a little more when with this kid. [ Reply | More ]

OMG this child has special needs and doesn't truly realize what he's doing. He's not "taking it out" on your child. It's a scratch - your child won't die from it. [ Reply | More ]
