You know, if some white people just allowed for the fact that there are many types of black people, they would be surprised how challenged their stereotypes would be. Heck, every black person is not even American or American born. One of the fastest growing nyc demographic segments - black immigrant families. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

yes, abstract thinking actually is the source of a lot of the problem. Abstracting someone's race from their individuality and then making categorical assumptions based on that abstract quality can get you quite far off base in a hurry. By no means of course is this limited to white people thinking about black people, or even to race in general. Also goes for nationalities, religions, heights, hair colors, clothing choices on and on. [ Reply | More
