16 mo says "hi daddy" and "hi mommy" - is that considered a 2 word phrase? I think it is the only one she has. Possibly "Iloveyou" but that is all strung together like one word. Wondering b/c we are going to ped today and I think she will ask about her words. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Just tell her that and ped will determine. She is fine for a 16 mo. Our ped wanted 3 words + mommy and daddy at 18 mos. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, exactly. Which is why reaching milestones is so very important and which is why EARLY intervention exists should there be a problem. [ Reply | More ]

I understand all about early intervention. A 16 mo who is already saying 2 word phrases is not a problem. [ Reply | More ]

OMG, see what I mean (other post) we are all freaked out and talking about early intervention for a 16mo. This is getting out of hand. [ Reply | More ]

Listen, I am not saying this child needs it but early intervention is just that intervening when a child is young and still forming their skills. I think it's very important that parents know about this. If OP thought everything were just fine why would she be so concerned? [ Reply | More ]

np: so if my 16 mo says mama, dada, hi, and sometimes ball, but seems to understand almost everything, then we're OK? [ Reply | More ]
