DD is 13 months old. Says, "uh-oh" and that's it. will follow literally dozens of simple commands. give me your doll. sit down. come here. Where's Daddy? Wanna go outside? But NO words. BTDT? When do I worry? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

She definitely understands me. Tonight, I even gave her a sentence with two commands, "turn off your music and give me your book". She did both. And when I say night-night, she closes her eyes and pretends to sleep. But NO words. Trying not to worry. [ Reply | More ]

It is absolutely free to get an evaluation. If there is something going on you will know and can get help. If not, you will then have your mind set at ease. [ Reply | More ]

13.5 month old ds only says "ah da" for all done. that's it. but i know he's understanding me on a lot of stuff. shouldn't worry for another few months. dd had a language explosion at 16 months and many kids have them much later. [ Reply | More ]

13 months is too early to worry, especially if her receptive language is so strong. DS didn't have a single word (not even uh oh) until 15 months, and he's fine. I think around 18 months is when you start considering evaluation, but with this strong receptive language, just chill and enjoy. [ Reply | More ]

our ped said one word besides mama/dada by 18 mos is normal, so I don't think you need to worry at all. It's way more important that they can understand you than that they have a ton of words. [ Reply | More ]

Is she a younger child? My younger niece barely talks at 20 months b/c her sister vocalizes everything for her. Sister has her in speech therapy but even therapist thinks big issue is older sibling. [ Reply | More ]

My older niece is 7 - not as old but still not that close in age. I seriously wouldn't worry at all at 13 mos. [ Reply | More ]
