If you are at fault in an accident & pay it without insurance involvement, is it OK to pay with a certified check made out to the repair shop? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

sure, if the other party agrees to it. But if the other party has already said that she would not go through insurance as a favor to you, probably not a good idea to alienate other party. [ Reply | More ]

agree somewhat but if person is not actually going to get the repairs done, estimate is suspect. On the otherhand, need to consider that person with damage is being inconvenienced by having to go for estimates and also may be w/out car. [ Reply | More ]

you could try, but quite honestly I would just pay it how ever the person wanted it. [ Reply | More ]

agree...not worth saving a couple hundred bucks to drag it out. In any case I would draft an agreement and have her sign so she can't come back for anything more. [ Reply | More ]
