4 yo ds is going to start private speech therapy for an articulation issue. He scored 5.9 on receptive and expressive language and this is purely articulation and fixable. My sister said I might not want to put it on insurance since it will be on his record forever. I assume this matters more with psych disorders, but not something like this. Right? Who cares if at four he was taught how to roll his tongue. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Sorry about that. I see what your sister is getting to, but I can't imagine how it could be used against him (pre-disposition or otherwise...) [ Reply | More ]

My ds is in private speech therapy for articulation. It's getting expensive....was thinking of doing the CPSE route...his articulation is pretty bad as commented on by a relative who is studying speech therapy, his friend who is a therapist and of course his regular therapist (but, I'm paying her so of course she will say this).....dc scored in the 99th percentile on his ERB for private school for verbal so I'm sure he has not other verbal issues. Do you think I'd be wasting time with CPSE since it's only articulation?? [ Reply | More ]

^ours is covered by insurance but only at about 50% so it's costing us $75-$130/week (depending on if he goes once or twice in a week) [ Reply | More ]

CPSE evals involve a battery of tests. Get the speech part done first & then ask evaluator what he/she thinks before you go on with rest. If you live in Bklyn, Rivendell is a great eval site. [ Reply | More ]
