Educated guess for the breakdown of the top 3 percentiles for G&T. HOw many 97s, 98s&99s. Add educated guess of how many in each percentile will not have chosen citywide. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Well, since two peole I know who work for the DOE said that there were between 200 and 250 99s, my guess is 225 99s, 350 98s and 400 97s. [ Reply | More ]

Oh, and I think about 10% of the 99s will choose district over citywide and another 10-20% will not send in their form since they have Hunter or private as an option. [ Reply | More ]

I have been assuming all along that a minimum of 25% are not applying at all and that probably about another 25% live too far out to commute so that would discount it down to about 112 99s, 175 98s and 200 97s [ Reply | More ]

I did % off of the chart on Inside schools.# test takers for entry grade = 16,324. I come up with 490 97th, 326 99th, and 163 99th . when you add up all three numbers you get a total of 979. The chart has 978 # of qualifiers for K above 97th.........................Based on the chart 38% of those who qualified live in D1,2 or 3. that leavess 62% living outside of the Districts where the citywides are in. I say only only 10% of that 60 would consider traveling with a 5 year into the city. Let's hope most of the 99's are outside of the districts.(unlikely) [ Reply | More ]

I would also suspect that the 38% in those three districts are also the ones most likely to have private or Hunter option. We know as a fact that the Hunter kids all have to come from Manhattan. Add to that the fact that we know that Hunter has gone down its wait list to about 10 for boys and a few spots for girls and I would be that is a lot of 97+ kids not in the applicant pool (48-60) I would also say that for every private student--even Dalton student--we hear about here willing to trade private for Anderson, there are another 40 who are not. Tonight I choose to be optimistic! (Tomorrow I will be back to pessimistic when tonight's glass of wine wears off and I start tracking the status of my certified mail ;-)) [ Reply | More ]
