2.5yo dd is being *psycho* at bedtime. It was working if I sat by the door reading a magazine until she fell asleep. Then she started trying to jump around, talk to me, etc. I kept saying I'd only stay if she laid down quietly. Not working. It's taking me over an hour to get her to go to sleep. I put a gate at the door and am telling her I'll sit by the door and read if she gets in her bed and if she doesn't, I leave and close the door. Should I ferber and go back every 5-10 min or just give a couple chances and that's it? WWYD? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I have issues letting her cry herself to sleep b/c I remember my parents doing it to me and being miserable. Is that just *my* issue and the right thing to do? [ Reply | More ]

I often put her to bed with me in the middle of the night if she's crying but she needs to go to bed on her own! Until she was 2 she was a perfect sleeper and never cried, never cried at night, went down easily, and now she's a total pita! [ Reply | More ]

wow that sucks. i think that if she is in distress, then of course go in. if she's just trying to get attention you'll have to draw the line at some point [ Reply | More ]

So, now, for whatever reason, she *needs* you. You got off when she was younger, an hour is only a half hour longer than a half hour, which doesn't seem long, kwim? It will pass. It will bring you closer to love her through this, rather than make it a battle. JMNSHO... [ Reply | More ]
