When a person gets an eeg, they put the "sensors" (not the right word) onto the scalp using glue. It is a nightmare to get out. Someone asked if anyone had a good way to get it out and I do but I walked away and forgot to respond. [ Reply | More ]

don't know, but oil often works for glue removal [ Reply | More ]

I've had many eegs. the last one wasn't a problem at all to get out. but if you are having trouble, really saturate the hair w/water, massage shampoo in, and leave in for 5-10 minutes. Rinse and see how it goes. [ Reply | More ]

My dd has epilepsy. They are not sure if it is permanent or residual from a viral brain infection she got 18 months ago. [ Reply | More ]

ugh. generalized or localized? I have juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME), interestingly enough not dx'd until I was 38. Apparently have had it my whole life. But, at my last eeg (not sleep-deprived), she saw no seizure activity. is dd on medication? [ Reply | More ]

^^^and sorry if I made it seem like the glue should be no big deal. That would be much harder on a child. [ Reply | More ]

she is 20 now. she had two febrile seizures as a child and then had a grand mal seizure when the virus hit - - it saved her life so I am not about to complain if that is all we have to deal with, kwim? [ Reply | More ]

totally know what you mean. grand mals are a bitch. I've only had 2, but they're really scary. you lose hours of your life. Just so you know - Keppra can cause depression. If she is at all down, don't be afraid to talk to the doc about switching meds. Hopefully the Lamictal would counteract it, though. [ Reply | More ]

Yes and all they saw on her last eeg were these tiny nano-second blips that showed the brain was still "annoyed" by all it had been through. However, she is on Lamictal and Keppra and may end up being on some form of medication all her life. [ Reply | More ]

I'm on Lamictal, hated Keppra. I never heard of using them both together. Lamictal is used for generalized. It's also been a great anti-depressant for me. Keppra drove me crazy. Honestly, I'm surprised my marriage survived the Keppra, and I was only on it for a few weeks. [ Reply | More ]

The Keppra makes her tired and will be the first one she gets pulled off of. Her neurologist is going nice and slow, which I don't mind. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, I fell asleep, literally, 30 min before I took my Keppra. And I got REALLY mean. If it makes you hopeful, I am driving again. Thank God. [ Reply | More ]

She is able to drive (but not on highways). How much Lamictal are you on per day? [ Reply | More ]

300 mg. I've never heard about restricting "where" you can drive. I honestly think it would be more dangerous to drive in the city. There was a huge accident in SF a few years ago b/c of a seizure and irresponsible driver. [ Reply | More ]

We are in the burbs, so she can drive to friends' houses and short distances. The highway makes her stress out too much, so she just avoids it. She is on 350/day. [ Reply | More ]

gotcha. the 300 is my right dose, according to last eeg. hope all goes well for her. take care. [ Reply | More ]
