there are lots of choices. Mostly depends on how much music you want to have on it at a time. The minis are probably fine if he'll just be using it for workouts, on the train, etc. But we use ours with speakers b/c we don't have a good stereo, so need m more storage. [ Reply | More ]

iPod is great. I have one and I got one for dh Xmas. They have a bunch of different ones. I got dh the middle one (40GB) I think it was $300 or $400). I don't think the mini iPods are worth it. [ Reply | More ]

Can't tell you that much about it, but I got dh's at J&R. Do some searches online for prices and they'll beat any price. Great customer service. We pretty much buy everything electronic from them. [ Reply | More ]

You can get 4, 15, 30, or 40 gigs...these will hold 900, 3375, 6750, 9000 songs...they cost about $250, $300, $350, $400...the Mini is small (4 gigs) and great for running, the others are hard to run with but hold more music. I have a Mini and it is (m) GREAT. Holds plenty of songs and is super small. You can't get it through Apple by F Day so go on Ebay and pay a few extra bucks. He'll LOVE it. [ Reply | More ]

Ome thing that's important...before you go out and get a 40 gig Ipod, make sure you have this kind of space on your hard drive, as this is the base where all music is kept and managed. [ Reply | More ]

Basically, if he has a HUGE music collection that's on his computer, get a 20 or 40 gig version. If he wants something to run/commute with, get the Mini. They range from $250 (mini) to $400 (40 gig). [ Reply | More ]

Got my daughter a Sony Walkman insteadl. It's much easier to manage which music is transferred from the computer. Also cheaper. [ Reply | More ]

Get the one with the most memory. Once you use it you want to keep storing things on it. [ Reply | More ]
