WWYD: I was offered job A but really want job B (and think I have good chances of getting it). However they’re dragging their feet so I’ve accepted job A. I think I can drag out start date of job A until I hear back from job B. Then if I get an offer, I will withdraw my acceptance of job A. How bad is this idea? Any thoughts on how to deal with this greatly appreciated. TIA. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Worked for me. I explained that it was a once in a lifetime opportunity, which didn’t appease A, but didn’t completely burn the bridge. Job B turned out to be amazing. GL! [ Reply | More ]

Have you told job B that you have a solid offer from job A with a deadline to respond but that job B is your first choice? [ Reply | More ]

+1 - Use your voice, call job B and let them know you're interested with an offer in your hand that you need to act on. [ Reply | More ]

Depends on how small your industry is but generally speaking, most employers will be annoyed but get over it. It happens. [ Reply | More ]
