FB acquaintance constantly posting about her "life coaching" business - lol this is a total scam right? From what I can tell from her website it looks like a ponzi scheme where the "coaches" are selling training programs to other wannabe "life coaches" and not actually offering any principal coaching services. Can anyone who has interacted with any of these groups IRL share more about your experience? What am I missing here? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I have a lot. Coaching services can be great and really give you a kick in the pants and get you on the right path (life, health, nutrition, fitness, executive, dating, etc.), BUT many of these services find they make more money when they sell the "how to sell" too their clients doing the coaches. I mean who doesn't want the quick path to success? All coaching services are definitely not like that, but many are and it really leaves a bad taste! [ Reply | More

A friend did a 9 month course and has styled herself a health coach and is trying to drum up clients. She's also selling essential oils. Knowing her as long and as well as I do, I think it would be hard for her to be an effective health coach because food issues are usually emotional/deeply rooted, and that's just not something that she's experienced or has ever been sympathetic about. Even her little pitches on insta are judgy or condescending. It can't be easy to try to start this business (but it really shouldn't be because it's like being a snake oil salesman, in a way). OP: Thanks for all of the replies, that's what I thought. This woman has always been somewhat of a wackadoo and I have no idea who in their right mind would pay hundreds of $$$ for her to "coach" them through life. Also, if her posting style is indicative of her writing talent and spiritual insights, I can't imagine who is actually paying $ to download her self-published e-book.
