What is the deal with City & Country? Is it worth trying to get in there over PS3? I haven’t heard much about this school on UB. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I know some families there. It's known to be progressive, but so is PS3. I've heard it's very hard to get in, but check it out and if you like it, apply. You never know. [ Reply | More ]

This. It is a wonderful progressive school that has changed little in 100 years. Everyone we know there is lovely and the kids seem incredibly capable. It also goes through middle school which, if you have the money, is a stress relief. Very hard to get into though. [ Reply | More ]

extremely progressive. A lot of celeb kids. My friend's child attends. They seem to love it, but they are very arty. I dont think the exmissions are very impressive, but they are both legacies, so they dont seem to care about that. and if you have to think about the price, you probably cant afford it. actors kids go here, prob because its not known as academically rigourous, is more artsy. if you're not in the atrts, its prob not your scene. So many trust fund parents too that arent professionals. My friend says half the moms are SAH with multiple nannies and no aspirations other than living in manhattan [ Reply | More ]

Our kids are there and very happy. It’s not hard to get into if you apply during the 3s- a lot of spots are open that year. The 2s are very difficult to get into and I don’t think there are a lot of open spots for K. My kids are in K and 3s and are thrilled to go to school every day. If you believe in progressive education it’s a really great school. We may switch to somewhere more academic as they get older though- a bit before high school. [ Reply | More ]

Well it depends on what you feel would be best for your kids. I think progressive is wonderful for young kids, don’t think they should be sitting at a desk, pushed to read/write before they’re ready- they develop very strong social/emotional skills at c&c. But I do want a rigorous school when they are older because that’s the real world. [ Reply | More ]

eyeroll. no one would argue that their child's education should focus on what they are ready to learn, at the exact moment they are ready to learn it. Are you a politician? lol. Let me know when you find the magical school that changes its approach as soon as your child is ready for more academic focus. Or should we all switch private schools during elementary?
