Oy, I contacted an old bf on linked in just to say HI. Haven't seen him in 30 yrs. He asked me if I am a Tiger Mom, and I said that my kids probably think I am , but no, I think I'm fun. He then tells me he and his wife disallowed TV for first 10 yrs or something, and that he made a rule that if one of his kids asked him to do something, he would never say no - ever. I guess he got me feeling like a bad mom, so I then responded that my dh and I are more relaxed, but my ds turned-out really smart and highly motivated, so I guess it was ok. Today, crickets.... Agree. Can't imagine most men picking child rearing as a first topic after that long. No way would DH ask an old girlfriend that. He probably wouldn't even ask if she had children! [ Reply | More ]

OP: I thought it was a joke. I responded "Tiger Mom???" ...blah blah. "and what about you, Mr. ___? I see you as relaxed more than a disciplinarian." He then responded above. [ Reply | More ]

He sounds like an asshole. Like someone who has held fast to various child rearing policies so that he can feel above others. Meanwhile, how do you never say no to at least some of your kids requests? My younger son wanted to turn our bedroom in to a swimming pool. [ Reply | More ]
