Recently spoke with someone who is a partner in biglaw and she was floored her DS didn’t get into any TT preschools. She said it is because she didn’t use her connections because she wanted to do things “the right way.” Didn’t want t9 tell her BigLaw partners are pretty much a dime a dozen in the preschool process and definitely nothing special. I’m sort of surprised by this. I’ve heard it’s way less competitive than it used to be. My friends son got into all the preschools he applied to last year including three “TT” Ones. She was shocked how much it had changed since she applied her first son 8 years ago. [ Reply | More

It is less competitive but if your friend's first child is in a good ongoing, preschools look at it as: this kid will have sibling preference and is easier to place in a few years. If the ongoing is prestigious, then the younger DC is even more desirable as it enhances the cachet of the preschool. [ Reply | More

Not being recommended by anyone as a big law partner may have worked against her more than being a dime of a dozen. Since pretty much everyone in her position would pull some strings, the schools would wonder why no one recommended that family.
