DD has tons of shoes she doesn’t need. Now she wants to buy an additional pair from her pocket money. Should I let her? It’s a complete waste but then again it’s her own money. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

How old? IMHO, she can use her own money for whatever she wants. But also, there can be a serious conversation to encourage her to think about how she makes her choices, the pros and cons, etc. [ Reply | More ]

I would use the same process I use with toys. You want another one, then you havce to get rid of one. Although I love shoes and have a ton I don't need. So this would be harder for me to justify. [ Reply | More ]

Check out the book "The Opposite of Spoiled." Author argues that kids should be allowed to do whatever they want with their "spend" money (among their "save" and "give" that the also have from their allowance). [ Reply | More ]
