I have 60k that I need to keep stable and 10knto invest. Any thoughts on where? Was thinking Ally for the 60k and maybe Disney or amazon stock? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

If you really don't need to touch it, put it in an annuity with your bank. It will be locked up for several years, but it's earning interest reliably. I put a lot of my personal money into a 7 year annuity because I'm conservative and I'm in my 40s. I wouldn't do anything like that with my money if there as a chance i needed it or that I can't expect to live for 7 more years. [ Reply | More ]

annuities are generally a terrible idea. The costs are high,which eats into the already low interest. Put the 60K in a high yield savings account (the rates are about 2% right now), and the 10K into a low cost, broad market index fund. [ Reply | More ]
