If your kid was miserable in public, couldn’t move, and you could not afford private what would you do? SAHM. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Sorry-fairly new here and didn't realize that was a controversial topic. We were in a similar situation with one of my 3 (though we did try traditional private) and finally found luck with homeschooling, though probably not as most think of homeschooling. He worked at his own pace, had a few structured classes a week with others like him, and checked in with his mentor once a week. Yes, there was cost involved, but less than private and he was sooooo much happier. He's now a sophomore at a top public university in the honors college. [ Reply | More ]

Why is he/she miserable? And are you implying they will be happier in private? [ Reply | More ]

Oh, so very untrue. It is shockingly easy to get a kid kicked out of a public school. What you can't do is kick the kid out of the system. [ Reply | More ]

I would try and find out of school experiences that compensate and work on strategies to make school more manageable - is the primary issue academic or social? [ Reply | More ]

I would be in there every other day meeting with the teachers, the guidance counselor, the principal, etc. to get them to focus on the problems and address them. You have to be a squeaky wheel. [ Reply | More ]
