HR moms, few words of advice please: I had a phone interview last Thursday, I thought it went pretty well (but its not up to me to say) now the person in HR who had scheduled interview I had w HR director, wrote to me to say she wanted to call me later this morning to "get my feedback" on the interview. I have the call in an hour, not sure what it could mean. Also, should I prepare in some way? What should I expect? Thank you! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I used to be in a position to interview and hire people, although it's been a while (I got out of management and into a different career). This sounds like the kind of situation where the candidate think things went well, but the interviewer(s) couldn't tell. Thought maybe the candidate did not really want the job. So they looked for someone else, but in the end you're better qualified than the rest of the field. But they're not sure if they want to hire you, if you don't want the job. So they're having the person on the company team who might know you best give you this phone call, to feel you out and see if you really want to be there. I could be way off, but that's what this sounds like to me. [ Reply | More ]

np: fwiw, I doubt this is it after only one interview with HR. You haven't even met the hiring manager yet. We can all guess, but just wait and see. Good luck! [ Reply | More ]

I remember you from last week. Don't be stressed. Nothing to prepare. It could really mean anything. [ Reply | More ]

op, yes I had posted last week. Thank you. I so need and want the job and like you said, could mean anything. I hope things work out. I was wondering if she would be asking additional questions I should prepare for - or maybe just ask me generally how I felt about the interview (strange though, never had this kind of call when interviewing in the past) Thanks everyone for the advice. Not in HR, but it could be that they are hiring for more than one position and want to see if you are interested in a different job than previously discussed. Could also be that something has changed with the position regarding start date, responsibilities, schedule, etc [ Reply | More ]

Looking to clarify salary expectations or see if there’s any other issues or concerns you might have. If they extend an offer they probably want to make sure you are going to accept quickly as they may have a #2 that is putting pressure on them. [ Reply | More ]

op-if you are still watching: she asked me a bunch of questions, including if I was comfortable with the project management (as apparently this was the biggest responsibility) and again how I would approach it etc. - I did not expect another interview - then she asked salary expectations and then even if there was another field in the company that I would be more interested in... ultimately that they should decide something by end of September and she will be in touch. Very strange. [ Reply | More ]
