Moms who cook, potluck question: I am a good cook, but now I've been asked to cook a dish for ds potluck rehearsal dinner (he will be in the school play - high school) not sure what to make - I'm Italian and make a very good lasagna, as well as many other pasta dishes. But perhaps I should think of something that is still good to eat an hour after being cooked? Any suggestions? Thank you [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

If you make a tasty lasagna, make that. Everyone will be happy to have it. My mother in law makes great lasagna (she is from Italy). And if we go there and doesn’t make lasagna, I’m secretly always a little sad. [ Reply | More ]

(I should clarify this my explaining that they make many wonderful dishes there, as many as 16 courses. But usually number three is lasagna.). If not, it is a different pasta dish. [ Reply | More ]

I cannot stomach baked ziti (am also Italian, and I guess it's not from my home region because (thankfully) I have only run into it in the NYC metro area. The pasta is overcooked, I don't understand what there is to like about it except that it is easy for the cook and a cheap dish. [ Reply | More ]

Lasagne always a crowd pleaser and if you brought it warm/covered it would be fine. If play is a musical some kids might be staying away from dairy, but I'm sure there will be other options for them. [ Reply | More ]

dairy increases mucus, can impact singing voice, this is a widely known thing and performers will limit or eliminate around time of performances. [ Reply | More ]
