Trendy moms: I have a golden goose sneakers question: Apart from the fact that they are truly nice looking sneakers and different from the typical ones out there, what justifies such a hefty price? I know they are made in Italy and usually all leather... honestly I was close to buying a pair on line, but cannot spend that kind of money on a sneaker (even though lately I wear them all the time). So, I bought into them-- and the hype, after seeing every mom here in NYC wear them. Truthfully, they're not super comfortable; the inset is totally flat with zero arch support. I've had mine for 12 months now, wear them two or three times a week, and the soles are worn down to the point of almost having holes and the sides are peeling away. Probably won't be buying another pair of GG anytime soon. [ Reply | More

sounds pretty bad. I need arch support and when I've put good arch supports insets into sneakers, they don't fit correctly. I would rather just buy a sneaker that looks good and fits me properly. [ Reply | More

op- thanks for the feedback. I have also seen a few cute pairs on line (the low tops) but was wondering about quality. Last year a bought a pair that looks just like GG, the brand is called Quattro Barra 12 (Italian too) they are handmade in Italy, all leather, but I paid about $100 - they are very cute and were quite comfortable, but after 8 months of wearing started to peel at the sides and the sole is also all worn out... So I guess no reason to ever spend $300 more on golden goose. [ Reply | More

op- are you referring to the gg or the ones I mentioned above? Have you looked at some of the styles? I do think they are cute. That said, I am also a size 10 shoes and most sneakers make my feet look even bigger... I so envy those models/celebrities that wear them w everything and still look gorgeous.
