UWS hands down. You can't beat having Central Park and Riverside nearby. [ Reply | More ]

UWS is more of a family neighborhood, WV is more of a party/trendy area [ Reply | More ]

Maybe you're thinking of the Meat Packing district? Shopping during the day in the WV, sure, but also families 24/7. A few restaurants, but not a bar or party scene at all. And both PS 3 and PS41 are great public schools [ Reply | More ]

Yes, but you can get very little apartment for your money, the streets are packed (making riding a scooter down the street at certain times very difficult), no large parks nearby. [ Reply | More ]

I agree about the parks. But UWS is super packed, mostly with residents instead of tourists. [ Reply | More ]

Just left UWS for WV. I would say it depends on kids' ages. UWS is great for elementary school kids -- Central Park, good kid friendly restaurants, short walk to CP Zoo, AMNH etc. But my teenagers are loving West Village. I think WV might be a bit tougher for littles -- not to say they can't do it, but there's more "texture" to the streets down here. [ Reply | More ]
