Going to London for the first time in a very long time. If I leave my phone on airplane mode, can I get by on just using wifi to check email and text? Or should I set something up with my carrier to avoid roaming charges? I have Verizon. Thanks. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Verizon costs 10 a day extra in London. Might be worth it to just have what you need. [ Reply | More ]

I can be that way too. I think that is totally worth it though. It does not kick in unless you use the service in a particular day. You don't have to commit to the whole week, so just go day by day and connect when you need it. [ Reply | More ]

All carriers have a daily international option. ATT just extends whatever you have domestically to International (so if you are unlimited data at home, you would be in London). Especially travelling I like to have data in case I get lost. Frankly, especially in London, where I go more often than other cities, but not enough to explore without getting lost! [ Reply | More ]

Just buy a new SIM card at the airport. It's $20. Then use wifi at hotel. [ Reply | More ]
