What is the oldest age you have heard of a woman becoming menopausal? I am 51 with heavy periods for the last 10 years that don't seem to be slowing down. My GYN seemed reluctant to do ablation when I asked about it last year but I am so tired of my life being hell every three weeks. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I was like that until the last year when I thought I was finally done, and then it came back once. Finally reached menopause at 52. It varies per person depending on your genetics early 50s to mid 50s is typical. [ Reply | More ]

Unacceptable. You think a non-capitalized sentence is an adequate apology? The beatings shall commence forthwith! [ Reply | More ]

How is your skin? If you are heading into menopause for real, you will start to notice the crepiness (sp?) and the lack of bounce-back. [ Reply | More ]

This depends on your skin type and the overall condition of your skin. Everyone experiences different symptoms. [ Reply | More ]

If you notice it before menopause, it's because you don't eat right. [ Reply | More ]

I eat very well and I have it. It is genetic and sun damage is also a factor. [ Reply | More ]

That doesn't seem old. 10 years though, wow. I had this for 2 years pre menopause and did the ablation. It worked for the bleeding but the side effects were horrible (don't recommend it). Some doctors don't even perform them anymore b/c of the side issues. One, I had scar tissue form that cramped up horrible to the extent I was bedridden 2-3 days each month in agonizing pain. Given percoset. Second, if scar tissue forms blocking your cervix, there is no way later on to know if you have the early symptoms of ovarian cancer (spotting). My doctor no longer does this procedure. Just be wary if you choose this method. [ Reply | More ]

I did the ablation at 45 due to ridiculously heavy bleeding which in my case is genetic. Just turned 50 and still get pms but that’s nothing compared to what I suffered with the bleeding. [ Reply | More ]
