HR or other professional moms, post interview advice please: I am a bit rusty at this, so need input. I had an interview yesterday, for a great opportunity. One person from hr facilitated the interview process (she scheduled phone interview which was yesterday - and I thanked her on my confirmation email) I had the interview yesterday morning with an HR director, but do not have her email address... wanted to say thank you - how do I find out where to send? Not sure if it's appropriate to call the company and ask. Thank you. Also, in thanking a person who shared my CV initially, should I say "had a great interview" even if not sure of interview outcomes? Lastly, some wording for the thank you email to the interviewer - do not want it to sound cheesy but would like to reiterate my interest in the position. Thank you everyone! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Call the company and ask for the HR director's email. They get these calls a lot, and it's fine. I would follow up with the person who shared your CV, just as you said--a brief, "had a great interview, much appreciated your help in facilitating this" or something along those lines. Short thank you for taking the time to meet you, what a pleasure it was to meet them, and what a great company etc...you can't wait to hear back from them at their earliest convenience. np: a great interview is generally two sided (like a great date - it really means that both people thought it was great). I'd be more inclined to say how much you enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about the company or something like that. [ Reply | More ]

op- yes, makes sense. If you are watching still: I just received a msg from the hr coordinator (who scheduled the interview w the director) she says if I have time next week to talk to her and "go over my interview with so and so - she would love to get my feedback" I hope this is not a bad sign... would would you advise I say during that call? BTW I replied with my availability and also asked for the interviewer's email to send a quick thank you note. [ Reply | More ]

I'm in HR, fwiw. We'd never waste time "going over the interview" if we didn't think there was a fit. However, not immediately moving to another round of interviews means there's something that they want to discuss. It could be anything and don't make yourself crazy guessing. Some examples is maybe they have concerns about compensation if that wasn't fleshed out. Maybe they realized that this in fact isn't the right role for you but have another one they want to run by you. Actually, maybe .... if the person referring you was senior/important/etc. ... maybe they'd give you the courtesy of letting you go gently over the phone. But I think of all the possibilities this is least likely. As for what to say on the call - it will certainly depend on what the purpose of the call is but feel free to use it as an opportunity to share that you've enjoyed the process so far and look forward to next steps - or whatever. Thank you, this is all so helpful to hear... I do hope they are not letting me down gently... I truly need this job. This same lady responded again (after I had asked for interviewer email) and said to just send the note to her and she would forward... [ Reply | More ]
