Thoughts on a bedroom that mixes whites and ivories with some worsen/natural accents? Also plan to do some sort of rug that is more colorful and decorative pillows that are fun. Have a white lacquer dresser, a fabric bed that is a material with some texture and is the color stone white. I have an acorn colored desk that is a small piece but there only wood right now. . Trying to decide on nightstands. Thinking of raffia, I have a raffia mirror. Any thoughts on paint color for walls? Would an ivory duvet look nice? Or just stick with white? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I was really into worsen accents then I moved to all out catastrophe surfaces instead. Made a big difference. [ Reply | More ]

Sadly this pretty much nails my decorating aesthetic. Or lack thereof. [ Reply | More ]

Yes on the rattan or raffia nightstands. I think you need a solid color or a print for the duvet and the background color should not be white or ivory. You need to tie the room together with your duvet, paint and accessory colors. I could go either way on the rug. I think a neutral would be better, but not white or ivory. I would find a duvet with colors you LOVE use that as your inspiration. [ Reply | More ]

Thank you! Should the wall color match the duvet? Even if it is solid? I have some old lamps that are a pale aqua or blue/green. They are nice so I am probably going to keep them. One of the only traditional pieces in the room. I have a tray that is Asian styled which has the same blue-green color in it. And no artwork right now. That will have to come later. The rest of my apartment has gray paint. [ Reply | More ]

np: don't match walls to duvet; match your duvet to more "permanent" things like rug, walls, furniture, etc. (well, not match, but pair with). Switching out bedding is the easiest way to refresh your room later on. [ Reply | More ]

Thanks. Do you think doing white bedding with statement accent pillows that brings in the wall color and lamps etc would work? [ Reply | More ]

I think you need to tie it together with a color (pale blue or seafoam-type color) then the two neutrals (ivory and driftwood-type accents). I would not have ivory right next to white (I think it will look mismatched). [ Reply | More ]

What would you paint the walls? Thanks! [ Reply | More ]

Can you dish the white lacquer dresser? Tonally the hard shininess of it feels "off" with raffia and natural wood accents. [ Reply | More ]

I can’t. I also have an acorn desk. There is actually a lot of white lacquer and raffia on sites like Serena and lily. Not exactly what I am going for but close. I have actually no natural wood. Just raffia. [ Reply | More ]
