How do you handle a "bread and butter" thank you note for a job interview if the interview did not go well, and you also don't think you want the job? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Don’t send one. It’s not required. [ Reply | More ]

IDA. Who knows if one of the interviewers may still end up in your work orbit - better to send a TY and be seen as someone who finishes through, then one who drops at first hint of rough waters. [ Reply | More ]

This. Just keep it short but thank them for their time. [ Reply | More ]

Or: I’ve received and taken job offers without thank you emails. I don’t think they are always necessary. [ Reply | More ]

It's not about necessary. It's about doing more than the absolute minimum and letting people know you appreciate them. [ Reply | More ]

Just say thank you and it was a pleasure to meet them. Maybe add in another line referencing something you did indeed appreciate in the experience. Will take 5 minutes to send an email and no downside. [ Reply | More ]

Not that they'd remember you, but people change jobs and and you could see this interviewer down the road later in your career. I just like being more formal. [ Reply | More ]
