Am I the only one who is glad the summer is over? I just spoke to a couple of moms who said the loooove summer and wish it could last forever. I guess I’m doing it wrong. My dc does day camp, visit family, but nothing major. They don’t have a ton of $ or summer homes. I guess they have better plans? Anyone feel the same? FWIW, the moms and I all work PT and are semi-SAH (I’ve pick up kids after school, watch them on breaks, etc). [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I WOH and I hate summer. So much coordination of camp and childcare. Yes, we take a week or so off for a vacation but it doesn't make up. I also like the energy and routine of the school year. I guess I'm not a lazy summer day kind of person? [ Reply | More

Maybe their kids sleep in? Mine doesn't. There are some things I like about summer, like not having to find a million indoor toddler activities, but I also like structure and I much prefer fall weather. [ Reply | More

I am sad about summer ending. I do work FT and kids go to day camp but I love beach on the weekends and no homework struggles. I also take more vacation time in the summer than I do during the school year - usually a week at the beginning of summer and a week at the end. I do think fall is beautiful, though, and I look forward to the end of year holidays. On a more shallow note I also like fall clothes and find it easier to lose a few pounds in fall as I tend to drink a bit more and eat more BBQ and ice cream in summer. [ Reply | More

I am a teacher and love summer but by August, I am sick of my own kids and want the routines. Thankfully, my kids do their homework independently so I do not deal with the HW stuff other people hate. [ Reply | More

My kids are not generally tough to wake for school and the one who has homework does it fairly independently with few struggles. On the other hand, they whine when bored and are bad about cleaning up. That's why I love fall and school, but not summer and no-routine. [ Reply | More

Me too and I am the teacher above so it is even worse. I love my kids but get sick of trying to come up with things to do. I get sick of making three meals. I get sick of sunscreen. I miss routine. [ Reply | More
