I have been posting about my colleague who is not good at what he does. He has been here longer than me (almost 4 years, versus less than a year). For next year, I was given all the prestige projects (and the associated work), and he was given ... nothing. I am somewhat flattered but I am worried that I will continue to do 75% of our department’s work. I would be fine with it if I made more money than him and he reported to me, which is not the case now. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Don’t feel jealous. They are most likely paving a way to fire him. Do you have union ? They might be preparing the case that he doesn’t work or can’t work. [ Reply | More ]

One boss would like to get rid of him, the other one (who gave me all the projects) has not communicated anything to me, other than that she thinks I know more than him. [ Reply | More ]

We have people like this where I work, and they are often "unfireable" for various reasons, so the director is more than happy to load the competent worker up with the important projects so they get done correctly. [ Reply | More ]

NP. I am one of those competent employees and I'm about to leave. It keeps happening. I need to learn to be just competent enough. [ Reply | More ]
